Too close for comfort

Wildfires continue to burn in our area of the world. Continued prayers for all those affected are needed.
Our little world was touched by more than smoke from all of this yesterday as ashes and embers blew over when the wind changed direction. The field that borders the north side of our property was ignited by a stay ember and life got rather exciting rather fast. Winds were so high and shifting back and forth so fast! We quickly lost all hope of getting it out and were loading up things we had packed earlier in the morning. Then the fire trucks showed up and got the flames out. I was so thankful! I continued to gather things together though since winds were not in our favor and the fire was only a couple miles away. I took the younger two kids and the pets WAY out south east of town to spend the night with some dear friends of ours. I knew I had no chance of rest if I stayed in the house. We are so blessed to have such good friends to go to, insurance to cover the STUFF that was left if anything had happened, and good neighbors who came to help us. The older two kids had headed out to help Jonathan's family evacuate from their home north of us. They did come back to the house to keep an eye on things, but only had to grab keys and run if the need arose so I wasn't worried. All is well this morning and we are home again. Praising God that in our immediate area no structures nor lives have been lost. Other areas have not been so fortunate.
Anyway, here are a few pix of the burned areas next to our property.
This is behind our metal building toward the west end of our property. It was just a stack of scrap wood.

Beside the stack of wood is an old clunker Geo Tracker. The doors were off and beside the car...they got a bit hot it looks like.

Looking across the field to the North....see the smoke billows?

See how close the fire got to our van?

A view from the road as we were leaving for the night.
