No rest for the weary...

...because we are ALWAYS finding more things we want/need to do! This weeks has been a busy one. Sunday was church and play day. What a glorious time of worship and fellowship we had!! Monday I did my little bit of jogging again with no issues! I also studied some more in my herbal books while the kids did school and chores. Then Kerrie had dance practice. Tuesday I worked out with the weight machine instead of running, but other than that the day looked much like Monday with Mykhal and Missy having training class at Petsmart instead of Kerrie having dance. Wednesday I jogged again. I did feel some pulling in the previously injured spot in my leg, but I did some extra stretching and kept things slow so I didn't have any problems. Our HUGE 10man tent had come in Tuesday evening so we pulled it out of the box and did a dry run set up. It's going to be GREAT! Not hard to put up at all! After cleaning up a bit, I went to town to get some dinner supplies for a military family that had just had their first baby. What fun it is to get to see these tiny ones!! Then I went to a meeting of an all base spouses' group that is getting started. Looks like there is plenty of interest and lots who are willing to make it work at this point. I'm very glad! I will be part of it, but just don't know how active I'll be able to be in it yet. Thursday we had a fantastic time at the park! Then Mykhal had riding lesson. Yesterday was produce day so we drove to Ballinger. I love getting to go over there! After getting out everyday this week though I am TIRED!! Was planning to sleep in some this morning, but of course my internal alarm clock was working really well today so that didn't happen. Oh well. I still slept well last night and so don't feel so exhausted. I had been planning to get a start on the going through and purging of the storage building today, but my muscle man is having another flare up of tendonitis in his shoulder. So I don't know if we will be able to get started out there or not. If he isn't up to moving things around then I will work on my sewing area in the craft building. skirt makings are still calling my name! Kerrie is making pancakes for us for breakfast YUM so whatever we do we will start off well fed!
The kids have been working hard on school and are doing so well. Attitudes have been really good too! So life is rolling sweetly along without any major speedbumps right now!!
Oh I nearly forgot to mention my happy dance! I pulled out the tub of summer clothes this week and packed away the winter things. When I put things away last fall, I had no idea that I was going to be making as many changes to me as I am. I was still very surprised to find that the pants that had been snug on me last fall are rather loose on me now! As in I nearly need a belt! So I did a little happy dance praising God for the evidence that I am doing my body GOOD!

Training day 2

Yep that was today! I decided to spend a little extra time doing warm up today so that I might avoid another torn muscle. So I walked briskly for 4/10 of a mile, jogged 1/10, and walked another 1/10. No pain, no torn muscles, just feeling good about another step toward my goal! As a side note, I am not using athletic shoes but just socks with my water shoes. Now don't go getting all riled up about me hurting myself! Running on the balls of the feet means there is greatly reduced impact on the joints, and I don't need arch support. This is like running in place only moving forward. Russ is amazed that this feels natural to me, but I have not ever run any other way unless it was to sprint to grab something that was blowing away (or to the bathroom). So learning to run for the first time, my body isn't having to RElearn a movement. Anyway, it felt good to get out and moving today! The weather has just been so wonderful I was thankful for a reason to get out and enjoy it!

Day 1 of training

Started out GREAT! I am desiring to learn to run with the goal being eventually to run a 5K. Why? I don't know....just seems like the right thing at the moment! So dearest husband has been doing some research and discovered some really cool shoes for running.....only you run on the balls of your feet. He's been doing this now for awhile and taught Mykhal. Since Mykhal is here and dh isn't, I asked Mykhal to teach his poor old Ma how to run. He did great at explaining it! So I started of nice and slow...I made it a full 1/10th of a mile!!! You say "that isn't much" but for someone who is so far out of shape it's ridiculous and who has NEVER run in her life...well...that's a great start! I walked back to my starting point and took a break. Feeling my oats, I decided to go for another pass. Again starting off nice and slow but steady...got about 10 steps, felt something move in my left calf in a way it shouldn't, then had sharp searing pain....hmmmm not good....couldn't go another step. So I come to a bouncing halt to assess the situation. Didn't have full range of motion, but could walk haltingly. I knew I had torn the muscle but also knew it was minor. So I did a bit of research, wrapped my leg in an ace bandage and propped it up on ice. Took some anti inflammatory before bed and planned on being better this morning. And I am! The muscle is still tender and sore, but I have greater range of motion today. I'm being gentle and pampering that leg a bit for a few more days, but am on the mend! Maybe in a week or so we will have training session Day 2.

Check out the cool silent auction

I've even donated a little something too for this cause. I've been following this young man's story for a couple of years. This family is amazing!
